BRIAN JAMES STURTECKY
Age 45, beloved husband, son, brother and friend went home to be with the Lord on June 2, 2018 in Jacksonville, Florida surrounded by his wife and family. Brian loved big and lived a full life. We are left with a "Brian sized hole in our hearts" and will miss him dearly. Although he lost his battle with cancer, he won the hearts of anyone he met.
He is survived by his wife Tracie (children, Sydney, Trey, Kendall), parents Jim and Joyce Sturtecky, sister Karen Wagner (husband Dave, niece Madeline, nephew Samuel), Susan Warning (husband Erich, nephews Nicholas and Jacob) and Megan Williams (husband Derik and nephews Emmett and Jace)
He was born on July 17, 1972 to James and Joyce Sturtecky in Chicago, IL. He grew up in Hazelcrest and Mokena, IL then graduated from Lincoln-way Highschool in New Lenox, IL in 1990. He then served in the Marine Corps from 1991-1996 where he served as an Infantry Marine and an Embassy Guard in both Berlin, Germany and Beijing, China. He studied Occupational Safety and Health at Illinois State University then began his career with Compliance Safety Advocates and finished out his highly successful career with OSHA as an Area Manager in Jacksonville, Florida.
Brian had a huge heart for fun and excitement! Dog training, Cross-fit (Bold City), motorcycles, the beach and Celebration Church were just a few of his passions. Brian was the life of the party, and every dog's best friend. He loved his family fiercely and was bigger than life. He never left a room without new best friends, was beyond patriotic and never stopped trying or learning new things. His life spread so far and wide, he literally has friends on several continents. He will be tragically missed.
Family will receive friends at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 65 Old Frankfort Way, Frankfort, IL 60423 on Saturday, June 16th, 2018 from 1:00 PM until time of the funeral service at 4:00 PM. Interment will be private. For information, www.kurtzmemorialchapel.com or 815-806-2225.
