Age 83, of New Lenox, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, March 24, 2022, at Silver Cross Hospital, New Lenox, IL. Dorothy was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma to the late Glenn and Dorothy (nee Lyle) Davis. Loving mother of Price (Pennie) Futrell and Nancy (Dale) Kalman; cherished grandmother of Chelsea (Lance Kay) Futrell, Chase Futrell, Jake, Noah, and Lily Kalman; dear sister of the late Beth (late Lake III) Moore; loved aunt of Lake IV (Jennifer) Moore and the late Lisa Moore; proud great aunt of Lake V and Arden Moore.
Dorothy graduated from Muskogee High School in Muskogee, Oklahoma, and attended the University of Oklahoma where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. Dorothy was a dedicated, hard worker all of her life, retiring in 2010.
Dorothy was an avid reader and cook. She taught herself how to cook at an early age. Her family and friends looked forward to her meals, especially her famous pot roast, lamb, shrimp & grits, and homemade chocolate syrup. She relished spending time with her kids and grandkids, playing cards, discussing historical facts, and Jeopardy.
A devout Christian, Dorothy selflessly devoted her entire life to her family, traveling between states to help and mentor where she could. Keeping to her sound, peaceful demeanor, Dorothy lent serenity to others with her words, “Stay calm, everything is going to be okay.”
Forever the moral compass in everyone’s life, Dorothy was a shining example of love and grace.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
