Johannes C. Lichtenfeld

Johannes "Hans" Carl Lichtenfeld, 82, of Frankfort, Illinois passed away peacefully with family by his side in West Palm Beach, Florida on March 20, 2017.

Hans was born in Hamburg, Germany, March 24, 1934, to Johannes and Annie (Schrader) Lichtenfeld. He was the eldest of 10 children. He immigrated to the United States in 1955 and settled into the Chicago area. By 1958, he opened his own business, which remained in operation for 53 years until his retirement in 2011. Shortly after arriving in Chicago, Hans met and married Lydia Anneliese Wahl, who also emigrated from Germany.

Hans is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 58 years Lydia, children Gabriella (Jim) Kamrowski, John (Lynn), Caroline (Nick) Nelson, grandchildren Caitlin and Ross Nelson, Lauren Lichtenfeld, and 7 surviving siblings and their families.

Visitation will be held at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 65 Old Frankfort Way, Frankfort, IL on Monday March 27th from 3:00 to 8:00 PM. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 28th, with chapel prayers at 9:30 AM to St. Anthony Catholic Church, 7659 Sauk Trail, Frankfort, IL for a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow at Good Shepherd Cemetery, 16201 104th Avenue, Orland Park, IL 60467. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Hans' name to Cerebral Amyloid Angiopathy http://www.angiopathy.org/support.html or National Stroke Association http://www.stroke.org/ would be appreciated.
