Marjorie Guildenzoph (nee Schmuhl)
Born on September 28, 1921-age 96, went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, November 7, 2017. She originally resided in New Lenox and moved to Manhattan, IL. She most recently lived in Brandon, Florida. She passed peacefully from the care of Life Path Hospice, Ruskin, Florida.
Marjorie was a loving wife, nurturing mother, caring friend and neighbor. She was married to John L. Guildenzoph on February 26, 1944. As his farming life mate, she carried many meals and drinks to his fields until his death on May 15, 1978. Her love of gardening and plants became a second career in the creation of her Greenhouse from which she sold her prized plants and sweet corn. After her parents, Albert and Vernice Schmuhl passed, Marjorie accepted her new role in life as a village gardener and neighbor sharing her dried arrangements with all who asked.
She also was preceded in death by an infant son, William Guildenzoph , a daughter-in-law Rhonda Guildenzoph, and a great grandchild Justin Copeland. She is survived by her children Beverly (George) Ruhle, John Allen ( late Rhonda) Guildenzoph, fond friend (Louise Nelson); grandchildren Jennifer (Craig Copeland) Ruhle, Melissa (Kerry) Mauldin, Amy (Grey) Guerzon, Ben Guildenzoph, Mark Guildenzoph, Cari ( David) Ingram, John Guildenzoph ; and great grandchildren Tyler and Hunter Copeland, Emily Guerzon, Anthony, Rori, and Jacob Cline.
Marjorie was a member of St. Jude's Catholic Church in New Lenox for over 72 years. She was active in St. Jude's Women's CCW and was Catholic Woman of the Year in 1997. In later years, she was cared for by Debbie Matthews and Kassandra Rosinski who remained her forever friends. Visitation for Marjorie will be Monday, November 13, 2017 at St. Jude's Church, New Lenox from 9am until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am.
