Raymond K Jurvich
Age 74, passed away peacefully at his home in New Lenox on Friday, April 29, 2016. Ray is survived by his wife of 30 years, Debra, his son Andrew and his grandchildren Samantha and Raymond. Also surviving are his sister Bernadine Rinke, mother-in-law Helen Knobbe Johnson, brothers in law David (Carol) Knobbe, Roger (Donna) Knobbe, sister-in-law Lois (Paul) Pasley, former daughter-in-law Laura, and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. Ray was preceded in death by his parents Martin and Margaret Jurvich and father-in-laws Roy Knobbe and Delbert Johnson and brother-in-law George Rinke.
Ray was born June 22, 1941 in Joliet, IL. He was a graduate of Joliet Township high school and the University of Illinois in Champaign, IL. After receiving his bachelors in mechanical engineering, Ray served in the United States Army. Ray worked for Illinois Bell and then taught middle school and high school math and science before going to work for Amoco Chemical Co (now owned by British Petroleum). Ray retired from Amoco in 1997 and enjoyed many years of travel, biking, golfing, gardening and babysitting the grandchildren before he was slowed by Parkinson's disease. Family will receive friends at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 102 E. Francis Road, New Lenox, IL 60451 on Thursday, May 5th, 2016 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral service, Friday, May 6th, 2016 with prayers at the funeral home at 9:30 AM and then to St. Jude Church, 241 West 2nd Avenue, New Lenox, IL 60451 for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM. Interment, Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood IL. Memorials in Ray's name can be made to St Jude's Church in New Lenox, or the Parkinson's Disease Foundation.
