Retha L. Carpenter

Retha Louise Carpenter, 80, passed away peacefully with family by her side on October 18, 2017. Born in Booneville, MS, she was a long time Frankfort resident and member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her devotion to and love for her family was unparalleled. She led a life of Christ-like service and found her greatest joy and purpose in helping others.

She is survived by her children: daughter Vicki and her husband Craig of Frankfort, IL, son Richard and his wife Lisa of Leesburg, VA, 8 Grandchildren Jaclyn, Andrea, Christopher, Cynthia, Alyssa, Michael, Daniel and Amy and 8 great grandchildren Talton, Liam, Maeve, Levi, Ava, Lillian, Tanner and Collin. She is also survived by her sister Ruby Woodruff and her husband Mike of Palos Park, IL and a host of nieces and nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, Prentiss and Hazel Smith, she was preceded in death by her husband Luther Carpenter and brother Prentiss Carroll Smith.

A viewing will be held at Kurtz Memorial Chapel 65 Old Frankfort Way, Frankfort, IL 60423 on Saturday, October 21, 2017 from 4PM to 8 PM. Funeral services and interment will be at a later date near Retha's birthplace in Mississippi.
