Age 99, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 24th, 2014 at home.

She was born in Chicago on July 24th, 1914 to Terrence and Catherine (Fogarty) O'Brien. She graduated from Mercy High School and business college.

Rita married Lawrence Jostes on February 15th, 1941 in Chicago and over the years they resided in Cedar Lake, Indiana, Wheaton, Illinois, Joliet, Illinois and then finally retiring to Mountain Home, Arkansas in 1977 and remained until 2006 when she moved to Lockport.

Surviving are her children, Therese (Chuck) Confer, Margaret (Dwight) Rogers, Michael (JoAnn) Jostes and Philip (Rosalie) Jostes, six grandchildren, Lisa (Brian) Phad, Terry (Paula) Confer Julie (Mike) Holm, Steven and Valerie Jostes, Catherine Jostes, four great-grandchildren, Allison, Emily and Matthew Phad and Lucy Holm. She is also survived by her sister, Margaret Jostes of Highland, Indiana, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Jostes (1986), one son Terrence (1966), son-in-law Charles "Sonny" Confer (1995), parents, aunts and uncles.

Her faith and rosary have given her great comfort.

Family will receive friends at St. Dennis Church, 1214 S. Hamilton Street, Lockport, IL 60441 on Monday, April 28th, 2014 from 10:00 AM until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM.
