Sandra Olivia (Voland) Meyer passed away peacefully on January 28, 2023 with her family by her side to be with her Lord. Born Sept. 15, 1943 to Solvay and Oline Voland, Sandy was a classy lady devoted to her friends and family. She leaves behind her cherished husband of 58 years, Richard, loving daughter Tracy and son-in-law Scott Simons, grandchildren Tyler, Samantha, and Cooper Simons – all whom she adored beyond words, and many wonderful friends and family members – in the U.S. and Norway.
Sandy lived in Chicago before moving to Evergreen Park when she entered high school. She briefly worked at Enterprise Railway Equipment Company and Olson Tool and Die before marrying Rich in 1964 and building their home in Tinley Park. The couple founded Meyer Excavating with Sandy running the office until their retirement in 2005.
She would do anything for anyone! A dedicated volunteer and philanthropist, Sandy served as a charter member and President of the Tinley Park Lioness Club, member of the Tinley Park Lions Club, Sons of Norway, and Trinity Lutheran Church Altar Guild for many years. She loved animals, cooking, gardening, and traveling especially to Norway to visit with her many cousins, aunts, and uncles.
Family will receive friends at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 65 Old Frankfort Way, Frankfort, IL 60423 on Wednesday, February 1st, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM and again at Trinity Lutheran Church, 6850 West 159th Street, Tinley Park, IL 60477 on Thursday, February 2nd, 2023 from 9:30 AM until time of the funeral service at 10:30 AM.
