Sophie A. Peterson nee Stancel, 92, of Joliet passed away on Friday, March 28, 2014. Beloved wife of the late Robert George Peterson; loving mother of Alma Jean (Joseph D.) Synovic, Ronald (Karen) Peterson, and George Peterson; dear stepmother of Carol Lynne (Sherman) Arrington, John (Pat) Czajkoski, John (Pat) Czajkoski, Bill (Kathy) Czajkoski, Michael Czajkoski, and Susan (Steve) Calvert. Also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Sophie was preceded in death by her parents and siblings. Lifetime member of St. Bernard Parish in Joliet, she enjoyed playing bingo and pinnacle. The family would like to extend a special Thank-you to Dr. Panaherrera and the staff at Silver Cross Hospital. Family will receive friends on Sunday, March 30, 2014 at Kurtz Memorial Chapel 102 E. Francis Rd, New Lenox IL 60451 from 3:00 to 8:00 PM. Funeral service Monday, March 31, 2014 with chapel prayers at 9:15 AM to St. Bernard Parish, 1313 Ridgewood Ave, Joliet, IL 60432 for a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial. Interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Joliet, IL.
