Velma L. Rothchild (Formerly Rothenberg)

Velma “Snickie” L. Rothchild formerly Rothenberg, 95, of Tinley Park, and Denver, CO, passed away on April 3, 2019. She is survived by her daughter, Lynette Bickel of Denver, CO; sons: Larry (Mary) Rothenberg of Tinley Park, Gary (Sharon) Rothenberg of Homer Glen, Kurt Rothenberg of Denver, CO. Grandchildren: Ryan (Danielle) Bickel, Trevan Bickel, Steven (Ashley) Rothenberg, Gina Roemer, and Denise Spiller. Great-grandchildren: Quentin Bickel, Clara Bickel, Mackenzie Kramer, Grayson Rothenberg, Dylan James, Connor Roemer, Gavin Spiller and Kaden Spiller. She was preceded in death by her husband and father of her children, Leonard Rothenberg in 1964 and husband Norm Rothchild in 2001; siblings: Marguerite (Robert) Dunlap and Harold “Bud” (Lillian) Lorenz. Born to George and Louise (nee Vogt) Lorenz in 1923 and raised in Tinley Park, Velma, known as “Snickie” lived a full life. She married Leonard Rothenberg and together they raised their family of four in Tinley Park. She worked at many Tinley Park businesses such as Vogt’s Store, Sanger Hall, Bettenhausen Hardware, Jardine’s Restaurant, Cavette Drugs and was a receptionist for Dr. Sarmiento’s office. After moving out to Colorado there were many happy years watching her grandchildren grow and enjoying the outdoors, especially fishing. Her later years were spent working at various banks in Denver, CO. Velma moved back to Tinley Park in her final years.

A Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2019 from 2:30 p.m. until time of Memorial Service at 3:30 p.m. at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 65 Old Frankfort Way. It will be officiated by Rev. Chris Hopkins of The Center in Palos Park. A private inurnment at Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery in Tinley Park will follow.
