Zelma E. Hasselbring, age 93, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at her home in Joliet
Zelma is survived by her beloved children, Beverly (David) Miller, Janet (Frank) Cousin, David (Cheryl) Hasselbring, Dale (Terina) Hasselbring, and Carl (Janet) Hasselbring; Siblings, Earl (Fern) Bloemker, and Ralph (Henrietta) Bloemker; sister-in-law Bonnie Bloemker; her loving seventeen grandchildren; her thirty six great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; plus numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband Robert Hasselbring; siblings Archie Bloemker, and Arlene (Late Jack) Olmstead; and her parents Herman and Rosa Bloemker.
Zelma was a resident of New Lenox for over 40 years until she moved to Joliet near her daughter in 2015. She was a proud parishioner of First Christian Church in Joliet. Zelma held many jobs at the church including playing the organ and piano, acting as the financial secretary for over 37 years, and would be a familiar face because of her near perfect attendance.
Service for Zelma will begin on Friday, June 23, 2023 at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 102 E. Francis Rd in New Lenox, with a visitation from 3pm until 8pm. Service will continue the following day at First Christian Church, 1701 E. Laraway Rd. in Joliet with a visitation from 10am until the time of the funeral service at 11 am. Zelma will be laid to rest at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery with her beloved husband Robert on Tuesday, June 27, 2023.
