Alice Josephine Krzak (née Krakowiak), 82, of New Lenox, Illinois, passed away Monday, Dec. 2, 2024, at Northwestern Medicine Palos Community Hospital in Palos Heights, Illinois. Alice was born in Chicago to the late Thomas and Anna (née Paszkowski) Krakowiak. She was the beloved wife of the late Walter E. Krzak, Sr.; loving mother of Walter E. Krzak, Jr., Elizabeth A. (Thomas Gallinger) Krzak, and Andrew G. (Erika Hobbs) Krzak; dear sister of the late Edward (late Helen) Krakowiak; loved aunt, great aunt, great-great aunt, cousin and friend to many. Alice graduated from Rosary College in River Forest, Illinois, with a master’s degree in library science. She later retired from the Lisle Public Library in Illinois, where she served as head of youth services. Creatively gifted, she enjoyed quilting, cross stitching, painting, drawing, storytelling and writing. Alice also loved children, nature and animals — dogs, cats, horses, rabbits, turtles, birds and hamsters are among the creatures she held dear as extended family members. Alice was a treasure. Her kind will not be seen again.
The family will receive friends at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 102 E. Francis Rd., New Lenox, Illinois, Sunday, Dec. 8, 2024, from 2 to 6 p.m. At that time, a time of remembrance and prayers will be observed by family and friends.
