Anthony (Nacho) Cardenas
May 2, 1932 to October 25, 2023
Anthony was born in Chicago on May 2, 1932 and passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 25, 2023.
Father of Anthony (Mary), late Mario (late Carolyn), Paul (Shannon) and Lisa (late Dan) Pole.
Son of late Nicholas and Paula Cardenas, loving brother to his late sisters: Mary, Jennie, and Carmen. Fond grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle to many.
Anthony served in the United States Airforce during the Korean War stationed in Alaska, Texas and California. After his service he volunteered as Secretary of a Chicago chapter of the GI Forum, ensuring that veterans received the benefits they were entitled to. He worked for the Xerox Corporation for 37 years before retiring in 1996.
Anthony will be remembered by his family for having his camera ready to snap candid pictures for later display in his extensive collection of 35mm slides and for his favorite cologne – Old Spice.
The family is thankful for the care and comfort provided to him by the staff and medical teams at Heritage Woods Senior Housing – Watseka, and Iroquois Memorial Hospice.
A visitation will be held at Kurtz Memorial Chapel on Sunday November 5, 2023 from 1-5pm, with Chapel service to begin at 4pm.
