Ardith Rae Barnett

Ardith was born June 2, 1937 and grew up on a farm in Dekalb, Illinois (Shabbona) with her parents and 3 younger brothers until her senior year of high school. She and her family then moved to Joliet, Illinois. She once said that it felt like moving to such a big city compared to her small town of Shabbona. She told the story of how she walked in her saddle shoes to Joliet Central High School and was so nervous. She could not believe how large the school was, and she would get lost many times. Later, she met handsome Tom Barnett and had many roller-skating dates. She loved to roller skate. They married and had 7 children. Tending to her family and making a beautiful and loving home was her life’s work. Her family grew to include many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She held each one of them in her loving arms and touched each of their lives in a way that will never be forgotten. We are blessed to have had her for 87 years with extraordinary, constant, and tender love. She had a heart like no other and was like our angel here on earth. She had a song to sing for just about anything. She brought so much joy and showed us all how to find joy in this life. Her work here is now done, and she can be among the Angels in heaven and the family who are there waiting for her.

 Ardith passed away on April 7, 2025, with her loving family by her side. Adored wife of the late Thomas D. Barnett Sr.; Beloved mother of Cheryl (late Guy) Hernandez, Jeannine (Anthony) Garbin, Laurie (William Healy) Barnett, Janet (Terry) Eberhart, Late Thomas D. Barnett Jr., Jeffery (Mary Suarez) Barnett and Julie (Dave) Lynn; dearest daughter of the late Raymond and Betty (nee Cronk) Pemble; fond sister of Late Ronald, Roger, and James Pemble; cherished grandmother of Jason (Melissa Alamazon) Valy, James (Carrie) Livsey, Jacob (Pam Reid) Livsey, Michael (Hana) Garbin, Brian Garbin, Kelsey (Jeff) Cleveland, Cody (Heather) Peterson, Kyle (Emily) Eberhart and Faith Lynn; proud great grandmother of Jace Valy, Thomas Michael Garbin, Grace Elizabeth Garbin, Spencer Dively, Blake Livsey, Luke Livsey, Olivia Grace Eberhart, Karlie Cleveland, Lily Cleveland, Mia Anderson, Carter Nelson and many nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends at the Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 102 E. Francis Rd. New Lenox, IL 60451, on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, from 10 AM until 12 PM. Funeral service will follow at 12 PM in the funeral home chapel, Interment will follow to Elmhurst Cemetery in Joliet, Illinois.
