Arthur R. Anderson

Arthur R. Anderson, age 91, passed away peacefully at his home, on Friday, September 17, 2021.
Arthur is survived by his loving son James (Darlene) Coffey; and his grandchildren James Coffey Jr., Ashley Coffey, and Meagan Coffey.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Marjorie (nee Raglin) Anderson; and his parents Arthur J. and Hilda Anderson.
Arthur was born February 14, 1930 in Oak Park, IL. He graduated from York High School in Elmhurst and after graduation he went on to serve in the Marine Corps from 1953 to 1959. After graduation Arthur spent many years of his life as a union carpenter for local 558 United Brotherhood of Carpenters where he served as president for 10 years. Arthur then went on to earn his bachelor’s and also a master’s degree in Education from Southern Illinois University. Arthur took his experiences in carpentry and chose to share those skills and became a building and trades teacher for the Lockport Township Highschool where he taught hundreds of students over a 20 year span. He was also a proud member of the United Methodist Church in New Lenox, and the Lockport Exchange Club. Arthur will be missed by all that knew him.
Family will receive friends and guests on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at Kurtz Memorial Chapel 102 E Francis Rd New Lenox, 10:00am -12:30pm with a Memorial Service at 12:30pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations made to the Alzheimer's Association in Arthur's name.
