Brian N. Severson, age 67, passed away suddenly at home on Sunday, September 18, 2022.
Brian is survived by his beloved wife, Donna (nee Cameron) Severson; children, Laura (James) Holmes and Christopher (Lauren) Severson; grandchildren, Abigail, Logan, and Jack Holmes; siblings, Karen Severson, Patricia (Jim) Elkow, and Peter Severson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Skip and Lillian Severson and Donna’s parents, Alonzo and Gloria Cameron.
Brian was born in Harvey, IL on January 28, 1955 and raised in Dolton. During his school years Brian was a devoted athlete. He competed in baseball, basketball, and excelled in football where he played defensive back for Thornridge High School and North Central College. Brian and Donna were married in 1977 and enjoyed traveling and being with family. In 1983 Brian and his business partners, Mike Rizzuto and Bill Kluge, opened Phoenix Rope and Cordage Company in Joliet, growing it into a successful business. Once his children were old enough, Brian played an active role in coaching and supporting their teams. As a family they loved visiting Disney World, Door County, and camping at the Covered Bridge Festival in Indiana. After his years working, Brian enjoyed quiet evenings at home with Donna, especially if the Bears, White Sox or Wisconsin Badgers were playing. The thing that made him happiest was being with his family and being a loving grandfather. He will be missed by all that knew him.
