Catherine "Kay" R. Ulrich (nee Garbin)
83, of New Lenox, passed away December 29, 2013 at Silver Cross Hospital. Born in Joliet to the late Primo and Mary (nee Toigo) Garbin, lived her full married life in New Lenox. Survived by her loving family; her husband of 58 years Francis J.; her children, Paul (Lisa), James (Lisa), Patricia Ann (Thomas) Loftus, David (Lynn), and Janice Ulrich; her grandchildren, Thomas Ryan Loftus, Nicole & Bradley Ulrich, Michael, Samantha, Dominique and Monica; her sister, Dora Weiske; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Rev. Angelo Garbin, Albert Garbin, Joseph Garbin and John Vieceli. Kay received her nursing degree in 1951 from St. Joseph School of Nursing in Joliet. Kay was co-owner of Ulrich's Catering for 55 years. Kay was an avid crossword puzzle enthusiast and enjoyed working in her yard in the summer. She was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church, New Lenox. At Saint Jude she was a member of the Altar Rosary Society; active in St. Jude school when her children were attending. Her family would like to thank the New Lenox Fire Department and the Silver Cross staff for their care, service and compassion. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Jude Catholic Church Building Fund would be appreciated. Family will receive friends at the Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 102 E. Francis Rd, New Lenox on Thursday, January 2, 2014 from 2 – 8 PM. Funeral service Friday, January 3, 2014 with chapel prayers at 9:30AM to St. Jude Catholic Church, New Lenox, for Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood at 11:30AM.
