Cecilia A. Wingate (nee Wellman)

Age 96, passed away peacefully, at home Wednesday, July 31, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Born October 28, 1927, in Neola, Iowa. She was the daughter of Ben and Mary (nee Winneke) Wellman. Cecilia was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church CCW, St. Jude School Parent’s Club, Providence Catholic High School Parent’s Club, and she delivered Meals on Wheels. Cecilia enjoyed spending time with family and friends.  She will be remembered as a loving wife for 68 years to the late Richard J. Wingate, and devoted mother to Teri Clark, Kathy Peceniak, Mike Wingate, Carol (Duane) Niemann, Mark (Nancy) Wingate, Bill (Julie) Wingate, Mary (Bob) Hinchley and caring grandmother of twenty and great grandmother of twenty-four. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard; her son Robert and daughter Mary Jane; her parents; her siblings, Bernard Wellman, Paul Wellman, and Pauline O’Brien; her in-laws Hollis and Marie (nee Hein) Wingate.Visitation will be held at St. Jude Catholic Church 241 W. Second Ave, New Lenox, IL on Saturday, August 3, 2024, from 10:00 am until time of Funeral Mass at 11:00 am. Interment to follow at Maplewood Cemetery, New Lenox, IL. In lieu of flowers, donations in Cecilia’s name to St. Jude Catholic Church would be appreciated.
