Charlotte Anne Rostron, born November 4, 1942, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2025, in New Lenox, Illinois. She lived a life filled with love, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to education and family.
Charlotte began her teaching career at Jamaica High School as a Physical Education teacher, where her passion for sports and coaching ignited. She continued her journey at Bloomington Central High School, followed by her esteemed service in District 222, ultimately retiring from District 159 in Matteson, Illinois. Throughout her career, Charlotte was not only an educator but also a mentor, sponsoring cheerleading squads and girls dance teams, as well as coaching track and volleyball. Her influence extended beyond the classroom, instilling a love for sports in countless students who benefited from her guidance and encouragement.
Her educational journey began at Georgetown High School, from which she graduated in 1960, before earning her degree from Illinois State University in 1964. Charlotte's commitment to learning and personal growth resonated throughout her life, serving as an inspiration to her students and peers alike.
Charlotte was admired for her role as a loving wife, devoted mother, and doting grandmother. She cherished her family deeply and was a constant presence at her grandchildren's events, rarely missing an opportunity to cheer them on. Whether it was soccer, baseball, football for the grandsons, or dance competitions for her granddaughters, Charlotte was there. An avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and the Bears. Charlotte was a huge supporter of the University of Louisville soccer team, for which her grandson Bradley was the captain and now follows the Pittsburgh River Hounds, a professional soccer team, he plays for. This passion for family extended into her hobbies and interests, with sports playing a significant role in her life.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 52 years, Larry Rostron; her caring daughter, Tara (Eric) Sample; and her devoted son, Bradley (Margaret) Rostron. Charlotte took great joy in her role as a grandmother to Bradley Sample, Drew Sample, Sean Sample, Henry Rostron, Lila Rostron, and Vivian Rostron; also survived by her supportive brother Alan Daniel, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her father, Carl Daniel, and her mother, Mary Daniel (nee Trimble).
A visitation in her honor will be held on April 14, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Kurtz Memorial Chapel Ltd, located at 102 Francis Rd, New Lenox, Illinois 60451. Charlotte will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville, IL. The legacy of Charlotte Anne Rostron will undoubtedly live on through the many lives she touched as an educator, a member of her community, and a loving family member. Her spirit will be remembered fondly by all who knew her.
