Charmaine J. “Sherrie” Sterrett

Age 70 of New Lenox passed away unexpectedly at her home on Monday, May 6, 2024.  Sherrie was born in Joliet to the late Andrew Sr. and Madeline (nee Fuegett) Garish and was a lifelong New Lenox area resident.   Loving and devoted mother of Kelli Sterrett; dear sister of Kevin (Nancy) Garish, the late Andrew Garish Jr., and the late Pamela Garish; loved aunt, cousin, and friend of many.   Sherrie was employed by Westrock for over 40 years, retiring in 2019.  Sherrie was lover of animals, big or small, from birds and chipmunks to cats, dogs and her favorite, tigers.  She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.  In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in Sherrie’s name for continued care of her adopted tiger, Whirl Amur, at The Brookfield Zoo, or to ASPCA.  The family will receive friends for a memorial visitation at Kurtz Memorial Chapel 102 E. Francis Rd, New Lenox, IL on Sunday, May 19, 2024, from 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm.
