Daniel Ray Albert was born in Hidalgo, Illinois to Edgar Nathanael Albert and Dorothy Marie (Tiemann) Albert on 28 June 1949. Dan was the eldest of four boys; himself, Carl, Dave, and Bill. He was raised in Joliet and Lockport, Illinois, attending school at Park, Taft, and Lockport Township High.
Dan enlisted in the US Navy in 1969, serving during the Vietnam War, stationed in Vallejo, California in the shipyards and working on a tugboat. He worked as a machinist for Elgin, Joliet, & Eastern Railroad, and later for Railway & Industrial Services, while also working part-time for Joliet Rental.
Dan raised two children, Ross Andrew Albert and Leila Renee Albert, on Broadway Street, in Joliet. He had two step-children, Mike Swanberg and Amy Swanberg. He enjoyed riding motorcycle, watching ballgames and races, shooting guns, growing tomatoes, and spending time with family and friends.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Dorothy (Tiemann) Albert. He was survived by his wife Kathleen Renee (Fischer, Swanberg) Albert; brothers, Carl Albert, Dave, and Bill (Barbara) Albert; two children, Ross Albert and Leila (Chuck Webb) Albert; two step-children, Mike Swanberg and Amy Swanberg; grandchildren, Andrew, Danielle, Zachary (Gabby), Austin (Esther), Jacob, Hailey, Lucas, and Jayden; along with a long line of other family members and friends.
Family will recieve friends on Monday, May 12, 2025 at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 102 E Francis Rd, New Lenox, IL at 10:30AM until the time of the Memorial Service at 11:30AM. Daniel will be buried at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetary, Elwood, IL following the service at the funeral home.
