David D’Hooge 

     David D’Hooge, age 81, of New Lenox, passed away Friday, November 8, 2024 at The Cottages. He is remembered by everyone who knew him as a kind, fun-loving, generous man. Dave had a love of cars and motorcycles and was skilled at working on them. He also gave his love to many pets, both cats and dogs, throughout his lifetime. He will truly be missed by his family and all those who had the privilege of knowing him. 

     Born in Wood Dale, Illinois to Emile and Pauline (nee Naessens) D’Hooge, Dave was a long-time resident of New Lenox. He was employed by Argonne National Laboratory, followed by Union Carbide Corporation. After retiring, he worked for Catholic Charities in Joliet. 

     Surviving him are his four nieces, Deb (the late Tom) Gill of Joliet, Kathy Henderson of Joliet, Patty (Jerry) Jensen of New Lenox, and Kelly Eaker of Morris; his nephew, Mike Mussario and sister-in-law, Bev Mussario of Spring Valley; five great nieces and nephews, Sarah (Tony) Catt, Melissa Jensen, Zak Henderson, Maeghan Eaker, and Andrew Eaker; and one great-great niece, Sylvia Catt. 

     He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Richard D’Hooge; his wife, Judi D'Hooge (nee Mussario); his sister-in-law, Helen Sullivan (nee Mussario); and his brother-in-law, Dominic Mussario. 

     Cremation Rites have been accorded and a graveside service followed by a Celebration of Life will be held. Specific information will be provided at a later date and all will be welcome to attend.
