Dennis Paul Galle of New Lenox, was called home to our Lord and Savior on August 9, 2024. Loving Husband, Father, Brother, Grandfather and Friend; blessed to be with us for 88 years. Survived by his wife Kathleen (Gast) of 61 years. Seven children, Julianne Galle, Michael Galle (Erin), Beth deVente (Kameron), Jeffrey Galle (Katrina), Christopher Galle (Melanie), Andrea Noonan (Kieran), Nicholas Galle (Meg). 17 Grandchildren: Alexandra, Anne, Nicole Fernandez; Sean, Andrew Galle; Drue, Clare, Paige deVente; Kaitlyn Bollwahn; Marlo, Leona Quincy Galle; Tess, Sloane Shea Noonan; Lou, Maxine Galle. Siblings include Karen Kurtz (Ken) of Joliet and Robert Galle (Linh) of Phoenix. Numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
Born in Joliet to Valentine and Josephine Galle, Dennis attended Joliet Township HS, University of Illinois (B.S.-Engineering), and University of Chicago (M.B.A.). After graduation Dennis served in the Army, and then started working for Commonwealth Edison in 1958, retiring in the early 90’s. During his lifelong career with Commonwealth Edison, Dennis transitioned from positions in the fossil generating stations to the Nuclear Division of ComEd in the 70’s. He retired as Senior Vice-President of BWR Operations, overseeing ComEd’s Boiling Water Nuclear Stations. Dennis served on numerous executive boards during his tenure with Commonwealth Edison
Dennis loved music and played trombone in bands throughout grade school, high school, college and beyond. He played in the JTHS championship marching band, Joliet Junior College Jazz Band, University of Illinois Concert and Marching Band. There were numerous accomplishments in his musical career including participation in Dwight D. Eisenhower’s first inauguration. He played with various bands post college including the American Legion Band.
A celebration of Dennis’ life will be held at Kurtz Memorial Chapel 102 E. Francis Rd, New Lenox, IL on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, with visitation from 3 pm – 8 pm. Funeral Services will be on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, with prayers at the funeral home at 10:30 am then to St. Jude Catholic Church 241 W. 2nd Ave. New Lenox, IL for Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am.
