Diane Arietta Bednar passed away peacefully at the age of 73 on September 21, 2016 at her home in Mokena, IL. She is survived by her best friend and beloved husband of 53 years Gary Bednar; her precious daughters Terri (Mike) Ward and Jennie (Dave) Richards; her brother Steven Elder and sister Donna Swanson. Diane cherished her grandchildren Calley, Jessica, Megan, Mallory, Lexie, Michael, Matthew, Zack, Mark, Jake and her two Great-Grandsons.
She is preceded in death by her parents Caroline & Donald Watters, William Elder, her brother Charles Elder and her dear daughter Kimberlee. She treasured all of her Sister and Brother In-Laws, Cousins, Nieces, Nephews, Proctor Classmates, Chicago Friends, Thomas Court Neighbors, Palos Labor and Delivery Nurses and St. Mary's Parish Friends. Diane loved her career as a nurse, camping and traveling adventures, cooking, quilting, gardening, cross-stitch, games and cards. She taught her loved ones to appreciate Life's Bursts of Joy. Her family will receive friends at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 102 E. Francis Road, New Lenox, IL 60451 on Sunday, September 25th, 2016 from 2:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Funeral service, Monday, September 26th, 2016 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Mokena, IL. Interment, St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Mokena, IL. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Lung Association or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital would be appreciated.
