Diane Petronio (nee Rademacher)
Age 74, of New Lenox, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2023, at Lightways Hospice in Joliet.
Diane was born January 28, 1949, in Joliet, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents Raymond and Mary June (Nugent) Rademacher. She was also predeceased by her brother Donald Rademacher and brother-in-law Mario Corradino.
She is survived by her husband of almost 52 years Joseph Petronio; children Brian (Emily) Petronio of Joliet, Michael of Guam, and Jason (Rizal Hamdallah) of San Francisco, CA;
grandson Sebastian; siblings Gene (Marilynn) Rademacher of Grant Park, and Jan (John) Rodgers of Bourbonnais; former sister-in-law Cheryl Marita of Espanola, NM; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
Diane grew up on a farm in Grant Park. She graduated from Bishop McNamara High School in 1967 and from the College of St. Francis in 1971. She was a speech pathologist for Mokena School District for 33 years, retiring in 2004.
Diane married Joe Petronio in 1971, and they enjoyed their retirement traveling. She was a devout Catholic and member of St. Jude’s Church in New Lenox, where she was taught religious education and was a eucharistic minister for many years. In her free time, Diane enjoyed reading, watching the Hallmark Channel, and spoiling her grandson.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Diane’s name to St. Jude’s Church in New Lenox or Lightways Hospice.
The family will receive friends at Kurtz Memorial Chapel 102 E. Francis Rd, New Lenox, IL on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, from 3pm – 8pm. Funeral Services Thursday, August 3, 2023, with prayers at the funeral home at 9:00am to St. Jude Catholic Church, New Lenox, IL for Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30am. Interment Mount St. Patrick Cemetery, Wilton Center, IL.
