Dorothy was a person who enjoyed the little things in life. Everyday she would read the paper, especially the horoscopes and the sports section. She was an avid White Sox fan; she knew all the players and their stats and she could tell you when and where they were playing. She loved watching game shows, with her all-time favorite being Jeopardy. She played bingo every Friday, and she played Fill-or-Bust every Monday with her sister Carol (Bill), and every weekend with her family. She always kept track of who won what games, and you were on her list if you “knocked her down”. She loved to cook and bake any chance she got. She always made pizzelles, gnocchi, and Italian cookies. Dorothy also had many superstitions, including “knocking on wood” and carrying red ribbons in any and every purse she owned. She also went to the beauty salon every week, and her nails were always painted mauve. Dorothy was strong in her faith in Christ, and it was apparent to all who knew her. Above all else, the thing she loved the most was being in the company of her family and friends. She was the sweetest lady, and everyone who knew her loved her. She lived a long and blessed life, and she will truly be missed.
Services for Dorothy will begin on Thursday, May 2nd, 2024 with a visitation at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 102 E. Francis Road in New Lenox from 4pm until 8pm. Mass will be held the following day, Friday, May 3rd, 2024 at 11am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 19515 115th Ave. in Mokena. Dorothy will be laid to rest at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Hillside. In lieu of flowers, donations to Gentiva Hospice would be appreciated.
