Komer, Dorothy J., 89 of Mokena, formerly Chicago Heights, passed away peacefully, Dec. 10, 2018. She is survived by her loving family: daughter and son-in-law, Melanie and Vern Fischer of Mokena, grandchildren: Kristen (John) Flynn, Kyle (Leah) Fischer, Kaitlin Fischer, Kimberlee Fischer, Karlie Fischer; great-grandchildren: Owen and Benjamin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony Komer and brother and sister-in-law, Art and Margaret Welk. Dorothy was born to Arthur H. and Elvera Welk in Chicago Heights and was a 1947 Bloom Township HS graduate. She attended college and went on to work at Inland Steel where she met and later married Anthony Komer in 1955. She was a past president of the Pi Omicron Sorority and enjoyed the conventions and friends she had from the organization. Dorothy enjoyed sewing and puzzles, but her true joy was being “Nonnie” to her five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Thur., Dec. 13th from 3:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. and Friday Dec. 14th from 8:30 a.m. until the time of prayers at 9:30 a.m. at at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 65 Old Frankfort Way in Frankfort. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mokena at 10:00 a.m. Interment following at Assumption Cemetery in Glenwood, IL. Arrangements entrusted to Heartland Memorial Center.
