Dorothy Jane Sandlin Lazich, 87, of Frankfort, Illinois passed away in West Palm Beach, Florida on March 16, 2017.
Dorothy was born in Chicago on February 20, 1930 to parents Clarence and Mary (Galambos) Sehnert and lived in the area all her life. Her formal art training was at the Art Institute of Chicago, American Academy of Art, Palette and Chisel Academy of Fine Art and Arizona State University. Dorothy worked as a legal secretary at Sidley and Austin before retiring and becoming a full-time artist.
Dorothy has won many awards and her paintings are included in many private and corporate collections. She was a signature member of both the Pastel Society of America and the Midwest Pastel Society. Her work is featured in The Best of Pastels and Pastel Inspirations, both from Rockport Publishers.
Dorothy is survived by her loving husband of 32 years Michael Lazich, son Neil Sandlin (Lisa), two granddaughters Melinda Sandlin and Karina Sandlin, brother Robert Sehnert (Alice) and sister Nancy Rayborn (Randy) and many nieces and nephews, and beloved daughter-in-law Niki Sandlin. Dorothy is preceded in death by her son Lee Sandlin.
The visitation will be held at Kurtz Memoria Chapel at 65 Old Frankfort Way, Frankfort, IL on Friday March 24th at 3-8 PM, with a prayer service at 7:00 PM.
Funeral services Saturday, March 25, 2017 prayers in the funeral home chapel at 9:30 AM leaving for St. Anthony Catholic Church 7659 Sauk Trail, Frankfort, IL for a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow to Saint Mary Cemetery at 87th and Hamlin Ave., Evergreen Park.
