Dorothy M. Bettenhausen (nee DeValk)
92, of Manteno, passed away Monday, August 14, 2017 at St. James Hospital, Chicago Heights. She was born January 9, 1925 in Lester, IA to Simon and Ann DeValk. She married Norman "Happy" Bettenhausen on June 17, 1944 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Tinley Park. Dorothy was a Registered Nurse. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, camping and playing cards. Surviving are her husband "Happy" of 73 years; her sons Larry (Edna), Leroy (Evelyn deceased); daughter-in-law Cindy; her brother Clarence (Joan) DeValk; eight grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by a son Leslie. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Dorothy's name to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church would be appreciated. Family will receive friends at Kurtz Memorial Chapel 65 Old Frankfort Way, Frankfort IL 60423 on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral Service will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church 177 Luther Lane, Frankfort IL 60423 on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at 11:00 AM, lying in state from 10-11 AM. Interment will follow at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Tinley Park.
