Dr. Jacob Samuel

Dr. Jacob Samuel of Mokena, formerly of Downers Grove, passed away Monday, July 31, 2017 at the age of 60. He was a loving husband to Kim Samuel; a beloved father to Siby (Sukanya Banerjee) Samuel, Pushpa Samuel, Kendall Carstens, Reagan Carstens and Emily Carstens; the cherished son of Annamna Samuel; the dearest brother of Cainey Mathew and an uncle of numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dr. Joyce Samuel, and his father, P.C. Samuel. Dr. Samuel was a member of the St. Thomas Mar Thoma Church and played an integral role in the Mar Thoma Community. In 2014, he retired from Cook County Hospital as the Director of the Medical ICU after 30 years of service. Afterward, he continued to work at UnityPoint Health Methodist Hospital. He had a very strong faith in God and he will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and all those who met him. A funeral service will be held at Parkview Christian Church, located at 11100 Orland Pkwy, Orland Park, IL 60467 on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 9:00AM with a visitation to follow until 1:00 PM.
