DREW A. FILLAK

Age 69, of Manteno IL, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 9th, 2024 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Kankakee. 

Drew is survived by his loving family, brother, Dr. Douglas (Dr. Paula) Fillak, niece and nephews, Christopher (Alexandria) Fillak, Alexander (Carol) Fillak, Jessica Fillak, cousins, Dr. Sharon Wolchik (Varnum), Dr. Sharlene Wolchik (Poirier), Jann Wells, David Fillak, Paul Fillak and George Fillak . 

Drew was preceded in death by his parents, Leo & Donna Fillak (Fuhrman).

Drew was born in Erie, PA on June 15, 1955. Drew attended Gannon College, majoring in Economics. Drew was very active in the Boy Scouts of America. He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout at the young age of 13. He attended many National and World Jamborees and the Philmont Scout Ranch. When he wasn’t camping with the Boy Scouts, he was playing ice hockey as a defenseman.

Drew was a 32nd Degree Free Mason Scottish Rite and lifetime member of the National Eagle Scout Association. 

Drew was a world traveler and an Alumni of Semester at Sea. He loved all kinds of music and books. His hobbies included collecting Scout Memorabilia, stamps and coin collecting as well as collecting autographs.

To those that knew him, Drew was a very compassionate and caring person. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends.

Family will receive friends at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 65 Old Frankfort Way, Frankfort, IL 60423 on Saturday, October 19th, 2024 from 1:00 PM until the time of the funeral service at 3:00 PM. Interment, Saturday, November 2nd, 2024 at Laurel Hill Cemetery, Erie, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations to the National Eagle Scout Association Scholarship fund or the American Cancer Society would be appreciated.
