Edward Norton, Jr.
Edward, age 84, entered into eternal rest on November 25, 2017. He was the loving and devoted husband of Phyllis (nee Nordenberg) Norton; loving and generous father of Brenda (James) Grant, and Barbara (William) Frejd; devoted and loving grandfather to Brittany Dergenski, and Derek (Taylor) Frejd. Ed was born on July 13, 1933 in his childhood home in Lockport, IL to Edward J. and Myrtle I. (nee Carlock) Norton, brother of Hope, Fluffy, Ron, and Joy. He graduated from Lockport Central High School in 1951 then joining the U.S. Navy from 1951-1955. Ed went on to the Joliet School for Electronics for his Associate's Degree in Electronics. He worked at Argonne National Laboratory from 1961-1973 then joining Fermilab for the rest of his professional career as a Senior Electrical Technician (1973-1988). After retiring to AZ for three years he came out of retirement to be a consultant at Fermilab for six more years. Ed enjoyed working for Lockport Township Park District until the age of 80. Ed loved family, and friends; always being willing and ready to help whatever the need. He poured himself into the lives of his grandchildren. Ed is survived by his wife, daughters, grandchildren, his sister Joy (William) Blogg, sister-in-law Virginia Norton, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Irene Hope Kenny, and Muriel "Fluffy" Strassenburg, and his brother Ronald Norton. In lieu of flowers, Memorials in Ed's name to Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated. Family will receive friends at Goodale Memorial Chapel 912 S. Hamilton St, Lockport, IL 60441 on Thursday, November 30, 2017 from 10:00am until time of Funeral Service at 12:00pm. Interment will be at Lockport City Cemetery.
