Edward S. Podobnik, age 83, passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2015. Beloved husband of Alice (nee Pantol); loving father of Linda (Eric) Dahlman, Edward (Paula), Michael (late Cheri), Debra (Anthony) Minette, James (Maureen), Jean (Glenn) Gromnicki and Laura (Barry) Anderson; dearest brother of Rudolph (Fran), Dorothy (Robert) Frankel and Agnes (Russell) Edwards; cherished grandfather of Brian, Kevin, Neal, Gregory, Bradley, Holly, Michael, Jonathon, Anthony, Anna, Aimee, James, Allison, Emma, Ryan, Kara and Kelly; proud great grandfather of Ella, Nolan, Tyler, Caleb, Olivia, Benjamin, Faith, Haley and Anthony; also many, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Agnes (nee Ruzic); siblings Frank, Steven, Joseph, Mary and Katherine. Edward was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Korean Conflict, a member of Local UAW, a millwright at Ford Motor Company Stamping Plant in Chicago Heights and an avid fisherman and outdoorsman. Family will receive family and friends on Sunday, October 25, 2015, at the Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 65 Old Frankfort Way, Frankfort, IL 60423 from 2:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Funeral services on Monday, October 26, 2015, chapel prayers at 9:30 am, leaving for St. Anthony Catholic Church, Frankfort for 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with military honors to follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood.
