Eleanor M. Banas

Eleanor Mae Banas (nee Sundin), age 93, passed away at her home on Tuesday, September 14, 2021.

She is survived by her loving children, Brian (Virginia) Banas, Barb (Dennis) Jones, Bernice Banas, Bonnie (Mike) Swift, and Bettie McCollum; special grandchild, Jacen James and numerous other grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Eleanor is preceded in death by her husband Stanley Banas; parents, Neil and Eleanor Sundin; children, Brod, Bruce, and Benard Banas; and numerous siblings.

Eleanor was the Associate Director of the Chamber of Commerce for a number of years and was well known for being an avid bowler. She was an artist in her spare time and over all other things just loved being with her family. She was a rock of the family, greatest mother ever, and was everyone’s best friend. She had the ability to make friends with anyone that she met.
She will be missed by all that knew her.

A memorial service and visitation will be held at First Christian Church, 1824 Church Street, in Wilmington, on Tuesday, September 21st, 2021, from 11am-2pm. Eleanor will be laid to rest with her husband at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
