Elfriede Groth age 92. Peacefully passed away at Joliet Area Community Hospice surrounded by her loving family on August 29th, 2019. Unconditionally loving and proud mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Elfriede was a loyal Lockport resident for over 55 years. Formally from Salzburg, Austria. Elfriede and her husband Alfred of Chicago made Lockport their permanent home in 1959. Elfriede was a devoted homemaker and dedicated school bus driver for handicapped children. Elfriede was employed by Crawford Bus Co. for over 20 years. " Elfi " was known to all her family, neighbors, and friends as a caring, kind, compassionate, hardworking devoted mother. Elfi is survived by her loving sons Carl (Tonnie) Groth and William (Jill) Groth; Beloved Sister Hilda (Fred) Miller; loving grandchildren Kristy (Joshua) Girdick and Matthew (June) Groth; and adored great grandchildren Meghan Girdick, Liam Groth, Klair Groth, and Aaria Groth. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Elfriede is preceded in death by her loving husband Alfred Groth; beloved parents Franz (Anna) Haimerl; brothers Tony (Katie) Haimerl; Franz Haimerl; and Berti (Trudie) Haimerl. Memorial visitation will be held at Goodale Memorial Chapel on Thursday, September 12th, 2019 from 2pm - 7pm. Private interment at Lockport City Cemetery. In lieu of gifts or flowers, please make donations to Joliet Area Community Hospice.
