Esther M. Coulter

Born in Walnut Grove, AR on August 23, 1926, Esther M. Coulter (née Talley) passed away November 14, 2021. She was 95 years old. In the final months of her life, she said she wanted to be remembered as an ordinary person who had an extraordinary life filled with love and an upbeat personality to take one day at a time; she was loyal, honorable, funny, kind and patient, and always willing to lend a hand to those in need.

Esther had a strong, independent and adventuresome personality, sometimes a little sharp and sassy, and always amusing.

Before moving to IL almost 6 years ago she resided in Sun City, AZ where she was very involved as a Deacon at Faith Presbyterian Church, as well as many years on the weekly quilting committee.

When her children were young she was involved in teaching Sunday School, Brownie Scout leader, Girl Scout leader and 4-H adviser. She was an amazing seamstress, making all the clothes for her girls when growing up. One year at Christmas her girls got Barbie dolls, of which she made a entire wardrobe, including matching hats for each. Her love poured out in everything she did for others.

In her retirement years, she volunteered at the Nyack, NY Hospital providing reading material to the patient rooms, as well as lending emotional support to families.

Esther is survived by her children, Diana (Lawrence Brewer) of Frankfort, IL, and Janet (R. Bryan Christie) of Belleville, Ontario.
She leaves behind 5 grandchildren; Andrea Christie (Jason Miners), Marmora, Ontario; Colleen Christie (Ben Rowe), Stirling, Ontario; Elizabeth Coulter Seeholzer Weberling, Darien, IL; Emily Jane Seeholzer (Brian Hanrahan), Cohasset, MA; Mark Wilson Seeholzer, Naperville, IL; Julie (Dennis Smith), Beecher, IL, and Lisa (Josh Hilbert), Bourbonnais, IL.

In addition, she is survived by 14 great grandchildren.
Sophia Jane Christie Miners, Peyton Christie Rowe, Katie Elizabeth Rowe, Emerson James Rowe, Brexton Robert Rowe, Benjamin Frederick Weberling, Cole Alan Weberling, Molly Anne Hanrahan, Sean James Hanrahan, Rory Frederick Hanrahan, Angelica Wind Smith, Fiona Anne Smith, Hazel Grace Hilbert, and Delilah Eve Hilbert, all of whom she loved ferociously, and were the center of her enormous heart.

She was predeceased by her loving husband of 40 years, Eugene Wilson Coulter on October 10, 1987.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you live like Esther: take on adventure, be a mentor setting a good example, thank a teacher, give back to the community, and laugh until your sides hurt and tears stream down your face.
Most importantly: make a difference. Be extraordinary.

A Celebration of her wonderful life will be held in the spring, 2022.
