Eugene Stanley Wydajewski, age 83, passed away peacefully at home in Mokena on Monday, January 28, 2024 surrounded by family.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Carol (nee Marshall) Wydajewski; children, Carie (Sean) Benchak and Kurtis (Angela) Wydajewski; grandchildren, Collin Mohney, Tanner Mohney, Jared Mohney, Will Mohney, Egann Wydajewski, Evan Wydajewski, Emily Wydajewski, and Elaina Wydajewski; siblings, Anthony (Monica) Wydajewski, and Diane (late Jerome) Glowacki; and numerous nieces, nephews, and many close cherished friends.
Eugene is preceded in death by his parents, Egan and Elizabeth (nee Majerczyk) Wydajewski; and his siblings, Arlene Dempsy, Raymond Wade, and Lorraine Czarnecki.
Eugene was an avid gardener and loved spending time outside tending to his plants. He took great pride in his home, especially when it came to decorating. He was a good cook and loved to prepare meals for his whole family. His greatest pride in life came from his family. He cherished the times that he would have the whole family together and loved to be involved with his grandchildren. Eugene was a proud United States Army Veteran, who served the majority of his time at Fort Bragg in North Carolina. After his time in the service, Eugene spent over 40 years working his way through management at White Castle, and even met his wife there. He was a loving man, and will be missed by all that knew him.
Services for Eugene will be held on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 with a memorial visitation being held at St. Mary Catholic Church, 19515 115th Ave, in Mokena from 10am until the time of Mass at 11am. Eugeen will be laid to rest at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.
