Frederick Barker

Frederick Barker, age 86, passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at Joliet Area Community Hospice.

Frederick was the loving father of Lee (Katie) Barker and Sharla (John) Wojno; a beloved father figure to Darrel Krueger and Darren Krueger; the adored grandfather of Eric Krueger, Ryan Krueger, Kristina Krueger, Erin Krueger, Lindsey Krueger, Brittany Krueger, Callie Barker, Aiden Barker, Keagan Barker, Logan Wojno, Layla Wojno, Lucas Wojno, and Lexie Wojno; and dearest brother of Dolores and Ed.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife Sharlene (nee Froehlich) Barker; parents, Charles and Anna (nee Gangolf) Barker; and his siblings, John, Bud, Catherine, and Nick.

Frederick will be remembered by many and missed by all that knew him. He proudly served our country in the United States Army from 1958-1960. Frederick also worked for Consolidated Freightways from 1985-2000 and was known as “Mr. CF”. He was always there to lend a helping hand and enjoyed any kind of project that involved fixing things. In his free time he enjoyed playing golf, being with his family, or playing slot machines or in his words, "playing his quarters".

Services for Frederick will begin on Friday, May 28th, 2021 at Kurtz Memorial Chapel at 102 E. Francis Road in New Lenox, IL with a visitation from 3pm- 8pm. Services will continue the following day with a visitation from 10am -11:30am. A funeral service will be held at 11:30am at the funeral home. Frederick will be laid to rest at Saint Mary Catholic Cemetery in Evergreen Park.
