Frederick "Fritz" Nietfeldt age 90 of Tinley Park, passed away on Sept. 19, 2017. Beloved husband of Irene (nee Berlin) Nietfeldt. Dear father of Janet (John) Boehm of Homewood, JoAnn (Mark) Hess of Bourbonnais, Jerri (William) Schell of Spencerville, MD, Jacqueline (Karl) Newman of Champaign, IL and the late James (Stacy) Nietfeldt of Tinley Park. Grandfather of Katelyn (Phillip) Krabbe, Krista, Karyn, Kimberley Boehm, Daniel, Jill, Claire Hess, Bradley (Jennifer), Kurtis (Michelle), Eric (Casey) and Lisa Schell, Tayler (Andrew) Cross, Evan Nietfeldt, Andrew (Sarah), and Emma & Hannah Newman. Greatgrandfather of Lucy, JJ, Jimmy and Kendall. Brother of Late Herbert (late Mildred) Nietfeldt, late Oscar (late Lorraine) Nietfeldt. Fritz was a 1945 graduate of Thornton H.S., served in U.S. Army in Korea and Japan. Serving 29 years in postal service at the Homewood post office and retiring as Postmaster from the Steger post office. Visitation will be held on Friday, Sept. 22nd from 2:00pm-9:00pm at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 65 Old Frankfort Way, Frankfort, IL Funeral Saturday, at St. John's Lutheran Church 4247 W. 183rd St., Country Club Hills, visitation from 10:00am until time of service at 11:00am. Interment to follow at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Steeple Fund, % St. John's Church. Arrangements entrusted to Heartland Memorial Center.
