Gary J. Banser, Sr., 78, of Mokena passed away March 13, 2021. He is survived by his dear children: Cindi (late Kevin) Heppeler of Branson, MO, Julie Banser of Oak Forest, and Gary (Melissa) Banser, Jr. of Tinley Park. Cherished Papa of Joseph, Gavin, Margaret, Ryan and Jillian. Youngest brother of John (Pamela) Banser of Elwood and Raymond (Susan) Banser of Midlothian. Gary was preceded in death by his beloved wife Shirley E. Banser in 2011. He was a fond uncle and good friend of many, especially Gerry and Carol Mossolle. Born to the late John and late Adeline (nee Peters) Banser and raised in Tinley Park. After High School, Gary joined the U.S. Airforce and served overseas, mostly in Japan. Gary married Shirley E. Banser in 1966 and the couple raised their children in Mokena after moving there in 1969. An auto body repair specialist, Gary worked for Bob Motl Chevrolet, Rizza Cadillac, Apple, and Ted Horton. He enjoyed classic car shows, riding his Harley but especially spending time with his grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Thursday Mar. 18th from 3:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 65 Old Frankfort Way in Frankfort, IL. On Friday, Visitation from 10:30 a.m. until time of Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church, 10731 LaPorte Rd. Mokena, IL. The Funeral Service will be available for live streaming, please see website for link. Interment following at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church Cemetery in Mokena.
