89, of Manhattan, passed away Sunday, July 5, 2015 at Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox. George was born in Chicago to the late Matheus and Josepha (nee Yarutis) Karkouskis. Loving, caring and devoted husband of LaVerne V. (nee Ostermeyer); loving father of Linda L. (Dennis) Kramer and Donna L. (Charles) Smith; cherished grandfather of Rebecca (Brad) Zinn, Jennifer Smith, Amy Smith, Leah (Jon) Waldo, Carolyn Kramer and Sharon Kramer; new great grandfather to Declan Bryan Arthur Zinn; dear brother of the late Florence (the late Henry) Ahrndt; fond uncle of many. George was a WWII U.S. Navy Veteran. Family will receive friends on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 102 E. Francis Road, New Lenox, IL 60451 from 2:00 pm until time of funeral service at 2:30 pm. Interment Monday, July 13, 2015 at 10:30 am with full honors at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL.
