Giovanni B. DeBonfioli, age 98, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at Franciscan Village in Lemont.
Giovanni is survived by his loving children, Michael (Elizabeth) DeBonfioli, Margaret (Ralph) Bonanotte, and Gracie (Michael) Maratea; grandchildren, Danielle (Adam) Sparacino and Vica Maratea; and great grandchildren Julia Sparacino, Graham Sparacino, and Audrey Sparacino.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Anna DeBonfioli; parents, Scipione and Stefania Gio Batta DeBonfioli Cavalcabo’; son Scipio DeBonfioli; and grandson Michael DeBonfioli.
Giovanni was born in Trento, Italy in 1923. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching almost all sports. He was a proud member of the Sons of Italy. Giovanni was also a UAW Union member and worked as a tool and die maker for the Ford Motor Company. He was a loving man and will be missed by all that knew him.
Services for Giovanni will begin on Tuesday, January 4, 2021 from 10am until time of Mass at 11am at St. Jude Catholic Church, 241 W. 2nd Ave, New Lenox, IL. Giovanni will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery in Steger. In lieu of flowers donations to the National Alliance on Mental Illness would be appreciated.
