Gloria M. Karrels

Gloria Mae Karrels, age 82, formerly of Frankfort, Illinois, passed on to eternal life surrounded by her loving family on Friday, September 28, 2018 at her home in Mokena. She was born in Scottsbluff, Nebraska on October 14, 1935 to Olof and Ann (nee Green) Hallstrom. Her beloved husband, Ronald J. Karrels, whom she married on January 22, 1955 at St. Joachim Catholic Church in Chicago, preceded her in death on November 23, 2009. Gloria was the beloved mother of Ronald M. (deceased), Patricia of Frankfort, James (Catherine) of Bethesda, Maryland and Michael (Cheryl) of Lockport; dearest sister of Ruth (Steven) Maychszak, Olof (Barbara) Hallstrom, Judith (Norman) Moberg and Sonya (Edward) Polaski; and cherished grandmother of Nicole, Natalie, Matthew, Chris (Rob) and Jacob. Gloria was a wonderful, caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who cherished family above all.
A Memorial Mass will be held Monday, October 1, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 19515 S. 115th Ave., Mokena, IL 60448. Gloria’s family would like to thank the staff of Joliet Hospice for their compassion, friendship and skilled assistance, and for helping make Gloria’s final days comfortable and peaceful.
