Harry R. Fox
Harry R. Fox, joined his son and siblings in heaven Sunday, June 23, 2013. Born April 27, 1927 in Joliet where he met his wife of 65 years Mary J. Van Gampler. Harry joined the Navy at the age of 15 and served on the USS Saginaw Bay in the South Pacific during WWII. Upon return he joined the Local 174 Carpenters Union where he continued to build and remodel homes using his vast skill of carpentry and passing his knowledge on to his sons and grandsons. They lived in New Lenox for over 40 yrs. Before moving to Michigan and then becoming snowbirds to Florida. Preceeded by his son David (2006), his sister Vera and brothers Don and Jim. Harry Fox is survived by his wife Mary, children Lydia (Bernie) Elwood, Gwen (Bill) Elliott, Ron (Cynthia), Robert(Denise Olds), Barb (Mike) Studer, 17 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and many more that consider him grandpa and great grandpa (GG) and by his loyal friend Foxy. Harry loved being with his family, making sure all of his children and grandchildren knew how to waterski in his beloved Michigan. The family will always have a smile on our faces when we remember our husband, dad, grandfather, great grandfather and uncle. Per the family request, have a bowl of vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup (now that is good!!) He will truly be missed. In Lieu of flowers memorials in Harry's name can be made to a charity of donor's choice. Family will receive friends at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 102 E. Francis Road, New Lenox, IL 60451, on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 from 4-8PM. Funeral service Thursday, June 27, 2013 with visitation from 10:00AM until time of Service at 11:00AM in the funeral home chapel. Interment Maplewood Cemetery, New Lenox, IL.
