Helen Marie Escobedo

91, a lifelong Lockport resident, passed away peacefully Friday, July 6, 2018 at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center, Joliet. Helen was born in Joliet to the late John and Helen (nee Behensky) Escobedo. She was preceded in death by her sister Raquel (late Bobby) Warsaw. Survived by her loving and devoted nieces and nephews; Raquel (late David) Cichy, Susan Warsaw, Robert Warsaw, Thomas (Karin Carlson) Warsaw, Jeffery (Caryn) Warsaw, Patricia (Richard) McGrath, and Kenneth Warsaw; numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews also survive. Helen started her career as an underwriter for The North British Group in Chicago. After that, she was employed by the Lockport High School District in the clerical department. Helen finished her career as an employee of Illinois Bell/AT&T from which she retired. She was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Lockport. Helen was an avid animal lover and volunteered at the Stone City Kennel Club for many years. Upon retirement she enjoyed visiting McDonalds with her fellow seniors each morning and going on day trips with the park district. She loved Mexican music and food. Helen traveled/cruised extensively throughout the world visiting Fiji, Australia, Hawaii, Spain, England, the Greek Islands, The Caribbean and Mexico numerous times to visit family. She also visited Disney World frequently. She will be truly missed by all. The family will receive friends at Goodale Memorial Chapel 912 S. Hamilton St, Lockport, IL 60441 on Friday, July 13, 2018 from 3pm – 8pm.
