Jacob (Jack) Jensen was born on June 13, 1933 in Chicago, the son of Axel and Margaret Jensen. He passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2018 at his new home in Algonquin with family by his side. He bravely fought prostate cancer, beating it for over 20 years.
Jack lived in Chicago or on his aunt's farm in Minnesota until he moved to New Lenox in 1967. Jack was a Korean War Army veteran, graduated from DeVry Technical institute and became a master electrician who worked for Material Services for 50 years. He loved being a member of the VFW and Electrician's Union Local 134, often participating in club events.
Jack enjoyed watching the White Sox and the Bears from the comfort of his Barcalounger with the newspaper by his side. He worked tirelessly at all hours of the night and weekends to ensure that his family could go on their annual vacation in his cherished Lincoln Continental, playing plenty of Tammy Wynette tunes along the way. He was an avid golfer consistently working to perfect his game, unless of course he was enjoying a Manhattan on the rocks with his buddies at the clubhouse. Jack liked to employ a killer handshake grip, testing a man's mettle by who would wince in pain; lots of his daughter's potential suitors fell by the wayside after this move. After his grandson Jacob was born he loved hearing about his school and baseball accomplishments; he was very proud.
Jack is survived by his wife of 60 years Geraldine Jensen (Jablonski); daughter Kim Jensen-Pitts; cherished grandson Jacob Pitts; He was preceded in death by his parents Axel and Margaret Jensen of Wedron, brother John (Dorothy) Jensen and sister Mary Ann Jensen. Jack was indeed loved by all who knew him.
