JACOB “JAKE POSSEMATO” POEHLER
July 16, 1992 – September 28, 2018
After a lifelong struggle, Jake lost his battle with BiPolar Depression. Despite his battle, he lived a life full of adventure- skiing, traveling and for many years drifting his beloved yellow S14 Nissan. He was a lover of the great outdoors, and his best dog friend, Hana. Most recently, he lived in the Pacific Northwest where he fully enjoyed the beauty of both the mountains and the coast. Jake's reach was worldwide and he touched lives in ways he could not have imagined. Jake made friends with everyone he met, close to home and around the world...whether he met you once or he knew you for most of his life, you were forever his friend. Jake is survived by friends too numerous to count, whom all held a place in his heart.
Jake is survived by his mom, Jeanie and stepdad Dave Taylor; father Mike Poehler, stepmom Stacy; sister Madison; his sister Alexa and husband Dax Cargill and their son, Toan Jacob. Jake is also survived by his Aunt Jennifer and Uncle Anthony Radoumis; Uncle Chris and Aunt Diane Poehler and family. Grandma Billie (John) Lansing, Grandpa John Poehler; and Step-grandma Jill Wegler also survive him.
Jake was preceded in death by his Grandpa George Wegler; Grandma Loana I. Poehler and Aunt Melissa K. Poehler.
Please always remember, if you or anyone you know is struggling, either openly or quietly - reach out and please know that you are loved. You are loved beyond words. Please know that you are surrounded by people who care, who are there to support you. And also know that there is nothing wrong with you; it's okay to not be okay. There is nothing wrong with you if you are struggling - you are no less than the person next to you; please know that you matter, and this world would not shine as bright without you in it.
In lieu of flowers or other gifts, please consider donating to Detroit Dog Rescue or a shelter of your choosing in memory of Jake.
