James David Wiers
83, of New Lenox, passed away Monday, February 22, 2021 at his home. Jim was born in Harvey, IL to the late Marvin and Margaret (nee Ruelle) Wiers. Beloved husband of Joan (nee O’Connell); loving father of Melody (Burdette) Gass, James C. Wiers, Debra (Steve) Smith, Tina (James) DeAngelo, Angelo (Lisa) Zuccolo, and Nicholas Zuccolo; cherished grandfather of 11 and great-grandfather of 7; dear brother of Claudette (late Nick) Crawford and a sister who preceded him in infancy; loved uncle of many nieces and nephews. Jim was a Conductor for Canadian National Railway for 42 years retiring in 1997 and then was an independent owner/operator hauling steel for Steel Transport. Jim enjoyed family vacations and loved travelling. He was an avid bowler and a diehard Cubs fan. He enjoyed spending winters in Arizona where he could watch the Cubs spring training. A Celebration of Jim’s Life will be held at a later date.
