James E. Quinn, age 84, passed away peacefully at home, on Saturday, November 11, 2023 with his family by his side.
James is survived by his beloved wife, Arlene (nee Gregutis) Quinn; children, Mary (Steve) Morris, James Quinn, Donna (Mark) Ricketson, Daniel (Trish) Quinn, and Joseph (Diana) Quinn; grandchildren, Anna Morris, Alex Morris, Matthew Quinn, Jason Quinn, Jamie Quinn, Diane Ricketson, Jaclyn Ricketson, Katelyn Quinn, Allison Quinn, Danny Quinn, Joseph Quinn, and Daniel Quinn; great granddaughter Addison Ryan Quinn; sister Florence (Will Huddlestun) Sidlo; sister-in-law, Bernadette (late Martin) Quinn; brother-in-law, Joseph (late Mary Ann) Murphy.
He is preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Anna (White) Quinn; siblings, William (Mary) Quinn, Thomas (Margaret) Quinn; brother-in-law James Sidlo; and his mother-in-law Ruth Gregutis.
James was raised in Mt. Greenwood, and after marrying the love of his life Arlene they moved to Midlothian where they raised their family. Later on, he moved to Plainfield where he would stay for the remainder of his life. He will always be remembered for being a proud member of the local 134 electrician Union where he worked for many years. In his spare time he enjoyed coaching baseball, and softball. He also loved to go camping and fishing with his family and friends. He loved traveling with his wife to places like Southern Illinois, Texas, Florida, Hawaii, Vegas, and even taking a river cruise out of Amsterdam. He was devoted to the Catholic Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. In his free time he enjoyed playing cards, sharing his model trains with his grandchildren, and playing horseshoes. He loved nothing more than to be around his family grilling and just enjoying them.
Services for James will begin on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 102 E. Francis Road in New Lenox with a visitation starting at 10am until the time of service at 1pm. In lieu of flowers donations to the Dementia Society of America in James’ name would be appreciated.
