James B. “Jim” Mrumlinski, age 81, passed away surrounded by his five children on Thursday, June 6, 2024, in Salinas, CA.
Jim is survived by his loving children Jennifer (Rene) Herrera, Janice (Daniel) Hiller, Joyce (Arthur) Kraus, James K. Mrumlinski, and Joseph Mrumlinski. James was grandfather to Amanda and Ali Waibel, Ashley Ramsey, Melissa and Alex Hiller, Jack, Joseph, and Emily Kraus, Shanell Hilton-Moss, Lakeah Chappel, Nichole Ford, and Tyler Mrumlinski as well as numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and extended family.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents Bruno F. and Marie (Skowron) Mrumlinski, his brother Bruno Mrumlinski, and infant sister Irene Mrumlinski.
Jim was first and foremost faithful to God and his family. Born in Chicago, IL and a longtime resident of New Lenox, IL, he was a parishioner of St. Jude’s Catholic parish. After serving his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, Jim worked for Western Union in Chicago, IL and was a die-hard Chicago Bears fan. After leaving Western Union he worked for St. Jude’s Parish as the maintenance supervisor until retiring in 2009.
Visitation will be held at Kurtz Memorial Chapel 102 E. Francis Rd. New Lenox, IL on Thursday, July 18, 2024, from 9:00 am until prayers at 11:30 am then to St. Jude Catholic Church, New Lenox, IL for Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 pm. Jim will be laid to rest at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery with military honors. The family would like to extend their thanks to VNA Hospice in Salinas, CA for their support and compassion.
